VERRE

     

Population: Over 100,000
Geographical location: Scattered over the Verre hills in Fufore and Yola LG Areas of Adamawa State.      Tribe: Verre tribe. Most of the Verre people speak Fulfulde Fulani dia lect) fluently. Many understand Hausa. There are some dialectical variations in the Verre language itself.

Religion: Traditional religion, Islam and Christianity.

 
 

 

UP-DATE OF THE WORK

 The work started as far as 1989. Since there are over 100 Verre villages, it is difficult for the missionaries to cover all within the period of thejr stay. The first church was planted in Gawe villages. Now there are churches planted in Alaraba, Toza, Gegri (on the mountain) and Yasopa. The missionaries are planning to evangelise both the mountain and plain. Most villages with high concentration of Islam and Catholicism are very difficult to reach. Fulani plays a major role in influencing the people.

STATIONS IN THE FIELD                                       

This settlement is along the major road about one hour trek to Karlahi (a small village with a market and school) with no living church. There is a fellowship here which is witinto a native church. They have a problem of good source of water supply.

This settlement is also along the major road, it is before Toza from the direction ofYola-Fufuore road and is about two hours trek via Toza to Karlahi. The missionaries have started the advance stage of   church planting here and have a medical outpost but has a  problem of good source of water supply This settlement is about two-three hours trek from Karlahi with an indigenious church planted here. This church is supervised your resident missionary located here.
